It really is shocking to see how fast kids grow up, especially when they're yours! And in times of discouragement it's good to look back and see just how far they've come. Thank you Lord!

Now and THEN
The kids were playing in their wading pool the other day and I remembered back about 15 months ago when they played in there together for the first time. Of course I had pictures so had fun looking back and comparing the "now" and the "then." My how kids grow!!!
Then- Ella still has the same swimming suit (no WONDER she's starting to pop out of it!) and this was before Frank's trunks had come from his Granny!
Shooting herself in the eye with a squirt gun - this is why Ella will NOT be handling fire arms until she's old enough to take a Firearms Safety class!

There is no doubt what Frankie will be when he grows up! His Nemo trunks are just a tad too big...

Jungle Gym and Friends
We've got a nice mango tree in our yard that makes a great jungle gym. The kids LOVE to climb it and it's one of the most popular "toys" out there now.
An enjoyable activity for Frank is to run into the house and get a banana, then climb up the tree to eat it. Too many trips to the zoo for this boy or what?!
Ella is a careful climber (like her outfit? Ella fashion - a turtleneck and shorts :). She's got the longest arms and legs but isn't all that sure of where to put them.
Frank on the other hand... wow! I've never seen a person climb a tree like Frank. He uses his entire body! If his arm or foot doesn't reach a limb he'll actually use the rest of his body to cling to the tree and inch up. He even uses his BUTT to hang himself on something with! He is ALL OVER up there! And as you can see, he does tricks too!
Our cat Bronco - fully recovered from a killer case of mange and the cow treatment that followed! It almost killed him and majorly stunted his growth but he is getting fat now, doesn't stink and doesn't yowl and meow all the time. He's actually a great pet! And no, I didn't bbq him up on the grill :)
Went to the Gardens and Lake the other day with our friend, Abi. She's about 8 months older than Frankie and he practically towers over her :)

The pups enjoyed their first encounter with the Lake! With a little work it looks like Madea will be our next water dog :)

Ready, Set, ACTION!
I got a new camera for Christmas and my birthday this week and had some camera fun this afternoon with the kids, dogs and our neighbors. I really like my little camera so far!
My Pack. And I am their Leader. I CAN do it. I CAN do it... No wonder I'm so tired, trying to keep ahead of this crazy pack all the time!

Our activity is me throwing the Wubba, Bridger and the kids chasing after it, and the rest of the dog pack chasing after Bridger. Fun! Rangers yelping gets a little annoying but...
Sweet Sanyu. I realized that she's the least photographed dog that I have - she's a tad bit camera shy!
I am now almost through season One of The Dog Whisperer. I am learning SO much from Cesar Millan! This is my evolution of feeding my Pack together. Every one is calm and submissive and no fighting. I think they look pretty cool lined up like that too :)
Our neighbors came over to play which gave me some great opportunities to test out my new camera!
There was a ton of excited energy going on, on that trampoline, that little Madea just couldn't resist getting in on!
I never said that they were normal!!! Frank liked to hang his head over and watch the jumping from underneath :)
And sometimes a little girl just needs some time to herself away from the boys, to sit on a brick and play with leaves, dirt and butter tubs.

Have I mentioned before how well my puppies pose? Such pretty little things! Their ears seem to be growing faster than the rest of their bodies though!
One of our favorite neighbors, James. We've known him since he was a newborn. I love it that he's two now and starting to talk and communicate!
Being as the season here is perpetually summer, I never miss a chance to try to pretend that we're experiencing a different season. In this picture I am pretending that it is fall.
Our tires planted in the ground get a lot of action from the long legged L! No, I didn't plant them and expect them to grow, however this IS Uganda so you never know!
Ella with James' four month old baby brother. She's got some strong maternal instincts going on -we are just working on how to channel them. James survived her "loving" as an infant so we hope that his little brother does too!
Frank is a baby lover like his Grandpa although he doesn't stand much of a chance around his baby hog sister.
L's got some strong maternal instincts going on - She declared, "Even though he's not a puppy or a dolly, I still love him!" This was after I reminded her that she had to be more careful with him than she was with Madea or her baby dolls!

Friends, BBQ's, puppies, kittens and rabbits
I have yet to post pictures of our wonderful Christmas road trip, visit with friends and Kidepo National Park adventure, but until then thought I'd post some other "at home" pics since the New Year.
We have really been enjoying our friend Tanya whose been staying with us. She's been a HUGE Godsend as not only is she cheerful, friendly, calm, working on being assertive and brought a TV series to watch, but she also COOKS!!! Yep, you read that right, COOKS!!! And she claims that she even sort of likes it! She also cleans the kitchen too! I mean, what more could you ask for?
Tanya's a really good influence in that she always gets me out doing things that I don't normally do (like spending money!) and going places that I don't usually go (the fancy meat deli in Kampala, cool coffee shops, etc). So we've been living high on the hog lately, eating a variety of yummy food that SHE'S COOKING!!!
So, we've spent our days watching movies, eating delicious things, enjoying our 'pack', practicing dog psychology and generally just enjoying ourselves. The weather is always perfect, too!

The other day we had a bbq with some awesome sausages that we'd bought in Kampala. They weren't the cheap slimy type that we usually get here, but some REAL ones!
A pot full of green beans surrounded by some delicious bratwurst type sausages on the campfire
Madea practicing all of the calmness and submission that she can possibly muster. Pretty impressive for such a young pup!
