Visit to St Philomena Iganga Babies Home

While my dad was here we took a trip to eastern Uganda to visit the little boy that my Mom sponsors through Compassion International and to visit St Philomena Iganga Babies Home. The Home is run by Catholic Sisters and was the first orphanage that I ever visited in my entire life. When my Mom was here in 2006 we stayed about 3 days at the Home with the Sisters so it was a real treat to be able to take my Dad there for a visit as well. You have to know my Dad - he LOVES little kids and just about died when they brought out a 2 month old baby! He was in heaven :) Almost got his boots peed on by a little boy though... traveling in Uganda can be dangerous!

Ella, feeling right at home among the orphans! It was a good thing I'd dressed her in pink that day so she didn't get lost!

Too cute!

Snack time. This little boy, Brian, was brought to the Home 2 years ago when my Mom and I were staying there. We were sad to see that he is still there and that his parents never came back to claim him :(

I'm still trying to figure out Blogger and the layout and pictures and stuff so bear with me! I think I like it though :)

Visit to Compassion International little boy

I'm going to post some pictures from our visit this month to see the little boy, Justus, that my mom sponsors through Compassion International. He lives in Busiu, Uganda, between Mbale and Tororo.

Mom explaining a book about farming in Montana to Justus' dad, while my dad looks on

Justus' home. They are "peasent farmers" which are the majority population in Uganda

This is a picture of Ella with Justus' sister Peace (in white), his cousin Feona (little girl in orange) and two other nephews. L loved playing with the kids and checking out all of thier animals.

Justus was quite overwhelmed with the gifts that Mom had brought for him, his sister Peace and thier parents! But they sure made him happy - just look at his smile!

Dad and Mom with Justus and his family

We had a great visit. It was the second time that Mom and I had been there to visit and Dad and Ella's first. Ella loved it and ran around playing with Justus' 4 year old niece, Fiona (who was a head shorter than L!). Ella also got to pet a big pig at the Compassion center - wasn't scared- then got scared of some DUCKS at Justus' house! Funny kid.
FYI: Compassion is a GREAT organization and the more I hear about the work they are doing here in Uganda the more I am impressed by them. I am a hard person to impress, too!

Joining the ranks of blogspot users

After many problems with Xanga, I have decided to join the world of other blogspot users. I have many dear and respectable friends that use blogspot so I'm going to give it a try. I 'm sick of not being able to post pictures anymore, or copy text. Lets just hope I can get blogspot to work for me!

Many, many things have taken place since I pretty much stopped blogging 2 months ago. The most exciting things are Ella's progress and my parents visit here to Uganda. They arrived June 4th and my dad just left Wednesday the 25th after a 3 week visit. Mom is still here for another month but let me tell you, it is going by way too fast!!

Dad and Mom, with grandson Bridger and granddaughter Ella, visiting in Uganda ;)

I started back to work regularly yesterday so perhaps since I will be coming into work everyday will be able to post more, especially if blogspot works for me. I hope it does! I lead a rather odd life but I really love it and enjoy sharing it with others. Some parts are interesting and I am tending to write more then about just my dogs ;)

More later (hopefully!)
